“I am NOT James Morrison” proclaims Matthew Fearon an Acoustic Singer Songwriter from Southport, Merseyside.  A guitar teacher and busker by day, at night Matthew has performed in front of thousands of people including the likes of Steven Gerrard and most notably at 2010’s Southport Jedi festival.

For over 10 years Matthew has performed in some of the North West’s most prestigious bars and venues playing some of the greatest acoustic and indie tracks around. After covering other artists’ tracks from Neil Young and James Taylor to David Gray and The Killers in the past Matthew started to write and record his own material incorporating many different genres of music, around his own indie style.

Matthew just wants to do things his own way.
“I’ve loved performing some of my favourite tracks over the years, and it has really helped understand song writing and it wasn’t long until I started producing my own material. I love singer songwriters and the fact they do things their own way but I'm not another James Morrison. There’s nothing better than when it’s you and your guitar. It’s amazing when you know you’ve wrote a great song on your own”

Born Matthew John Belcher, Matthew changed his stage name in 2011 using his Mothers maiden name.  Matthew’s first taste of music was on the Piano at the age of 4 when he would sit at the keyboard and start playing by ear.  By the age of 9 he was playing the guitar - and picked up various other instruments along the way.  At age 15 he got his grade 8 on piano, and went on to complete a performance Diploma.  It was then that Matt started using this ability to write songs, opting
for a simpler creative approach rather than using the technical ability he is capable of. In most recent years he has been approaching song writing from a more spiritual angle and using different techniques to tap into a sea of consciousness.

“Quantum Physics, Philosophy, Psychology, Religion and Emotion have all played a role in this new approach, there is much more than the 3D boundaries we live in.  I use the experiences of the extremities of life as stories for my songs.”

As well as these new song writing ideas, Matthew has been experimenting with many different instruments - none of which are off limits.  His most recent festival performance at the Jedi Music Festival in Southport, to much surprise, used a Didgeridoo player, Soprano Sax, Congas, Violin, and a Rhodes Keyboard, and finished off using a Choir. His diehard fans cant get enough, and he is often sent presents from fans all over the world.

"I feel like a rock star already, one lady in America even has my name etched on her car."

After charming Merseyside and gaining legions of loyal fans, Matt wants to make the big step nationally and will be coming to a city near you. He is currently working on a 3rd original album, which is due for independent release so keep your eyes peeled for the end of 2012. Most recently Matthew has been given a weekly slot on Liverpool station Juice FM with Baz Todd.  The show named, I've Got That Friday Fearon, airs every Friday at 12:30 where he covers a new chart song each week acoustically, putting his own spin on things.
